Regional Emergency Officer Central and South America

Salary - US$ 47,170 per year plus benefits

Based in: One of Christian Aid’s offices in Central America (ideally Honduras) or in Perú (Lima)

Fixed Term appointment for 2 years



This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping Christian Aid develop its humanitarian work in Central and South America. You will play a leading role to improve the capacity of Christian Aid’s partners in these two regions to prepare for, mitigate the impact of, and respond to disasters. You will work closely with the Regional and Country Representatives, and the Humanitarian Division in London to implement agreed emergency preparedness, risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation strategies and responses to emergencies within the two regions. You will support partners and enable them to implement rapid, effective and principled response to emergencies and preparedness.



This post holder will be based in one of Christian Aid Country offices in Central America (ideally Honduras) or in Lima, Peru. Whatever location is agreed, you will be required to travel on a regular basis throughout Central and South America.



You will have substantial experience of working within either Central or South America or both, preferably managing emergency response or preparedness and mitigation programmes, and ideally working with local partners. You must be fluent in Spanish and English.
